What is Gold Ticket?
I created Gold Ticket to provide a highly flexible, experienced landscape design service that benefits corporations and individuals seeking a per-project design contractor.
Who do I serve and what do I deliver?I have two main customer bases: landscape firms and property owners.
The Green Industry: I serve businesses in need of a trained designer. I contract with nurseries, lawn-care companies, and small & large landscape firms alike.
Property Owners: If you have found my services and own property, I am happy to work directly with you to provide a design.

About me.
I attained a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. I gained years of experience doing landscape designs for homeowners and associations.
However, my design skills are not just backed by years of desk experience-- I have also worked for years installing landscapes and maintaining them. I have the dirt under my nails to prove the worth of my designs.
I am able to design in many growing zones across the US. I have traveled the country and am always looking at the botanical life in any given area. What plants thrive in each eco-region? What is the cultural style? What is harmonious with the land? I pay attention to these details and am ready to serve the needs of a broad geographic range.
I also have studied Urban Forestry at Purdue University and worked extensively in the field, which has given me a special knowledge of trees.

The Process

01

Initial Contact and Consultation

First, let's connect!
We will have a brief initial conversation to get a general idea of what you're looking for, and whether we are a good match. We will schedule a date and time for a more detailed conversation about your dreams. It's okay if you're not sure of what you want, or if you already have some plans. I will ask many detailed questions to arrive at an understanding of your lifestyle, your needs, your aesthetic, and your constraints. We also arrive at a numerical value for your budget. We are setting the stage to make your space work for you.

02

Site Analysis

Second, I observe the existing conditions of the land and obtain measurements of the property and building. This is done through a variety of media, including photographs, maps, public records, etc. I note the direction of the sun and its exposure, viewpoints (to be blocked or accentuated), soil moisture, climate, and slope, amongst other important details. I collect these points of information to conceptually stitch together an understanding of the land's unique fingerprint, to ensure that my design will work with the land to bring out the best in it.

03

Conceptual Iterations

I begin rough sketches that play with the form and function of your land, creating ideas of how to arrange various elements within the property. This step braids together the information I've gathered in steps 1 and 2. I consider the benefits and drawbacks of each iteration, eventually arriving at an informed choice of general layout.

04

Leaning In

With the framework of the arrangement completed, I begin to fill out more detailed aspects of the design. I vet specific plants that can do well in your land, as well as select the materials that will look best with the whole landscape and architecture. I solidify measurements of constructive elements such as garden beds, hardscape, etc.

05

Finishing

The design is yours! If you are a company I am contracting with, payment is finished and the contract is fulfilled, and installation moves forward on your company's terms.
If you are a property owner hiring me directly, you have now purchased the rights to the design. You can hire someone to install the design or do it yourself. You can even frame the design for your wall decor... Yes, this does actually happen occasionally. ;)

The owner of this upscale condo was one of the early adopters of a porcelain tile patio in the midwest. The sleek patio is accented by tasteful plantings. Color is utilized to maintain a personalized space, and trees are strategically spaced to fill in the gaps of a wooded area to provide further privacy.

Plant Selection_Gallery01

This is a sampling of how a homeowner can squeeze the juice out of an underutilized space. This "leftover" and forgotten land segment became a cozy, lush, green oasis for two to sit and enjoy the outdoors in. This area focuses on a densely planted, shade-tolerant design with native plants incorporated.
Zone 5

This design highlights the unique combination of a homeowner's personal desires and the land's fingerprint colliding into something truly personalized. The homeowner wanted a butterfly garden for their child in their wooded backyard. I utilized a natural opening in the wooded space where light broke through, but kept in mind that the area was dappled and the plants had to respond accordingly.

This is an example of a simple, small design. The design follows a monochromatic theme, and accommodates the personal tastes of the family, who preferred an evergreen-forward approach. I incorporated native plantings as the opportunity presented. Spacing, as always, is considered in terms of realistic long-term growth of the plants.
